ILLUSTRATOR TYPE PORTRAITS
Students became familiar with the CS6 Adobe Illustrator workspace by developing an understanding of typography and layout. For this project, students were challenged to examine letters, symbols and glyphs up close by using them to construct portraits of an admired artist or inspirational figure. Not only was it fun, but the students also gained a deep understanding of typography: leading, kerning, tracking, case and letter anatomy. In Illustrator they learned how to use the pen tool, the 'type on a path' tool, rotate and scale among others. This project helped students improve their cognitive spatial intelligence by building something 3-D in a 2-D space.
Can you guess the identities of the people pictured below?
